Bond Election Set For April

The Drumright Board of Education approved a bond proposal to be put to the community for a vote in April. Projects in the bond proposal were identified by facilities’ assessments and input from teachers, staff, parents, and community stakeholders. The bond would pay for some big projects: a multipurpose activity/performance venue, a large district safe room, safety and security enhancements and additions, technology enhancements, placement of 6th grade classrooms in Bradley Elementary, elementary playground remodeling, cafeteria expansion, district HVAC upgrades, parking lot resurfacing and additions, as well as many maintenance and upgrades for numerous district programs (Academic Team, Agriculture/FFA/4H, Band, Baseball, Basketball, Cheer, Cross-Country, Football, Library/Media, Music, Softball, STEM, Track). This bond would also allow for an increase in student population growth.

“I want to thank everyone involved in the collaboration and long-range planning that has gone into preparing for this bond proposal,” said Drumright Superintendent Angela Avila. “The bond will support our students and teachers in their day-to-day operations and enhance our overall educational opportunities for our students”.

If approved, it would be the largest in the history of the district and pay for $17 million in improvements across the district. To put these numbers into perspective for homeowners, this increase for a home valued at $100,000 would be $3.92 a month or less than $50 a year.

The Board of Education and administration will be coordinating a community meeting to provide additional information to the community on Tuesday, March 21st at 6:00 PM in the High School Library. If you would like to send questions you may have about the bond or projects included in the bond, you may do so to Angela Avila, Superintendent, at the following email. aavila@drumright.k12.ok.us
